Silence
Many years back when I heard Simon & Garfunkel sing, “The Sound of Silence”, I was hooked. I was hooked by the music, and by the lyrics. It has always reminded me of a famous quote by P.D. Ouspensky, who was considered a disciple of George Gurdjieff.
“PEOPLE LIVE IN SLEEP, DO EVERYTHING IN SLEEP, AND DO NOT KNOW THEY ARE ASLEEP.“
P.D. Ouspensky
Filing
I hate filing papers, and doing administrative work. It drives me mad. However, through November, December and January, I must work on my website(s), do my administration work, work on my marketing plans, on my Shahjahanabad book, and the project that I am doing with Leslie. She is very talented.
Anyway, while doing some filing today – and, I have been postponing this a lot – I decided to explore some music, and some incredible versions of Simon & Garfunkel’s song came to light. These versions are dark, somewhat menacing and really suited to the world today.
Here they are. Starting with the original.

The Touch Of Class
Extended version by Disturbed
Passenger
The only thing I can say is that these versions make my skin tingle, and make me say – “Holy Mother of God….” There is some real talent out there..
Turn off the lights when you hear these versions.
.
It’s a great song no matter who sings it.
Leslie
true
It takes some serious nerve to redo The Sound of Silence. How can one improve on perfection?
