Urban Grit: One Morning in Chicago (3)

I must have been quite naive in my own way. It was not until I saw these homeless chaps that I seriously thought about homelessness in countries like the USA

After all, isn’t the US supposed to be the land of milk & honey? The land of the brave and the free?

I seriously wondered how these people survive the harsh winters of Chicago.

But then, my good friend and seriously talented musician, Leslie, tells me of how the homeless freeze to death in Canada.

It sucks.

  1. It does suck Rajiv. A lot of these people have mental health and addiction problems. We closed a lot of our psychiatric hospitals. They thought if they could keep these people on medication there wouldn’t be a problem. They were wrong!
