Last night I was at a music event, and I witnessed the Shillong Chamber Choir performing for the first time in my life.
Shame on me, actually.
They are called the Shillong Chamber Choir, because they are from Shillong. Shillong is the capital of one of the states of North East India, called Meghalaya. It is an incredibly beautiful part of India. Actually, the North East part of India is my favourite part of the country, apart from the hills of North India.
Genetically, they are of Mongoloid extract. And, they are magnificent.
The first song, is one that they have sung – in Russia – in their native Khasi language.
The second, is a brilliant medley. yesterday, they did some fantastic renditions of Queen’s “We Will Rock You”. One song they created, was a fantastic one, commemorating train journeys in India.
The third, is their version of India’s national song – Vande Mataram
The fourth is a Hindi song they did with the European Concert Orchestra
They ended the night, last night, with “Amazing Grace”
Fabulous… thanks for sharing Rajiv.
Glad you like them!
Looks like a good night out! 🙂
