Monochrome Madness: A Slice of Heaven

asliceofheaven-rajivchopra

I was charged with the task of taking a photograph that could not be easily shot using a tripod. I racked my brains quite a bit, and when I was driving into Delhi, I had a brainwave.

First of all, a clarification.

I am Indian. Ergo, I am crazy.

I took this shot while driving.

I put my point and shoot on ‘sports mode’, and drive along at a decent pace. Half my attention was focussed on survival. Normally, my entire attention is focussed on survival.

Then, I held the camera on the driving wheel, as I drove. Finally, I spotted this guy sneaking onto the road, in the wrong direction. That is when I clicked. Luckily, the traffic was not particularly heavy that day, else i would be in hospital.

No doubt, the idiot was talking on the phone at the same time.

In Delhi, many of us have mastered the art of defensive driving.

Will I do this again?

No! Never!

  1. Rajiv, what you need is a Dash cam. My son has one in his car and he gets the most amazing traffic videos. That eliminates the video while driving hazard. They’re about $100.00 here in Canada.

  2. Good post.

I have an important survey to ask you about.

  3. I thought you were going to say that you had a tripod in the passenger seat, and a remote in your hand… holy crap you are crazy for having the camera in your hands! Glad you are ok, and great shot of a crazier driver than you. 😉

  4. Not knowing the Art of photography, do not know about shooting a picture without a tripod and the nuances involved in that.

But Your picture is not only very clear, (There, Absolute Layman terms!), it is also interesting, in presenting a guy, in a fairly empensive car, being brainless enough to go in the oppositie direction.

That would have needed Nano seconds to decide the shot and to capture it, a very difficult proposition. Kudos on that.

Also glad to hear the Last No, Never there. I had my heart in my mouth for You. 🙂
