I took this photograph of fishermen’s boats moored at the banks of the Ganges near the Chunar Fort. I shot through the smog. We have way too much smog in India, which is why my friend, “Barack” has started monitoring air quality in Delhi.
Anyway, have I broken the rule of thirds? Maybe not. I do have another composition of these boats where I have placed them bang in the centre
The original photo was dull, so I tweaked it by adding a graduated fog filter. I reduced the opacity, changed the angle, added a polarising effect. Finally, I boosted the contrast and increased the structure.
A final twist with the curves layer,
No noise reduction or sharpening.
Boats in the fog…. Or, boats in the sfog!
I really like the way you handled that photo! The rule of thirds was made to be broken (or not used sometimes!).
Thanks.. Sometimes, we need to play with that rule..
It looks so clean and peaceful 😮
It was rather clean, actually
I like this shot, Rajiv. Your eye is drawn along the curve of the hill and the river bank. The fog/smog really adds to the “dreamy” look and mood. I think your “tweaks” in post processing heightened the effect. It all works well together.–Patti
Thanks very much…. 🙂
This is a really enchanting photograph.
Thank you!
I think you can sneak in with the third rule … nice pic too by the way Rajiv. I like the light glowing on the water
Thanks a lot. Julie!
Btw, is NZ going to win the World Cup?
Nice shot. The grass is so green along the river.
Thanks… The grass actually was green, if obscured a bit by the smog
Where is Chunar Fort?
“I reduced the opacity, changed the angle, added a polarising effect. Finally, I boosted the contrast and increased the structure.” What is that in English Rajiv?
Chunar Fort is 60 km from Benares..
Let’s catch up for breakfast, and I will do the translation for you!
Sounds good. Will reach out to fix day.
Ill tell you after today’s match 😄
I am curious… We have had some surprising success so far…
